673. A Day Off: a soothing story and meditation

On her day off, Marta tries to find the perfect toy for her new companion, Kit Cat. But sometimes simple things are best.

A Day Off Excerpt:

It was a cloudy day on Ahway Island. The gray clouds were big and fluffy as they raced through the sky, catching Kit cat’s attention as she gazed out her favorite window. Kit’s tail flicked back and forth eagerly as she watched the clouds rush by.

Kit’s human friend, Marta, had the day off today. Marta was usually very busy working her important job as the operator of Skipper Street sweeper. Together, Skipper and Marta worked very hard to keep the streets of Ahway Island clean.

But today, Marta was home all day, enjoying a quiet day of relaxation. Kit was glad that her human friend was getting a chance to rest. As Kit sat by the window, Marta sat on the little couch in the same room, quietly reading a newspaper. Occasionally, she looked up from her paper to watch Kit in the window. Marta smiled at the little cat’s fascination with the clouds high above.

Eventually, Kit started feeling a little bored. After all, she couldn’t possibly catch any of the clouds. She hopped off the windowsill and walked to her cat tree, swiping her paw at the pretty feather toy hanging from one of the arms of the cat tree. After a few moments of swatting at the toy, once again Kit again started to feel a little bit bored.
