Publisher's Summary:
Nothing bad is supposed to happen in Palm Springs. At least that's what San Francisco private detective Tom Danzel and his partner, Stanley Korski, believe. But when their friend Chris finds a dead body in his hotel room bed, Tom and Stanley drive out to help the local police investigate. What they discover is a gangster's plot, a rather nasty green snake, and an elegant hotel that offers delicacies not usually found on a room service menu. The two detectives are going to have to rely on their skills and each other if they're going to survive this very deadly kind of love.

A great read
The characters in this book are humans placed in a world of lust and murder. I'm sure that we all know many of these characters in real life. Great story line. Enough detail to tanalize and keep the reader reading. The erotic descriptions do not distract from the murder mystery. A fun book for a lonely night.
Tom and Stanley hunt killer in rich gay men's resort in Palm Springs!
Former San Francisco police-turned-private detectives Tom Danzel and his life partner Stanley Korski are back, on a road trip to Palm Springs, coming to the aid of their friend Chris, who was on holiday at an exclusive gay resort and found a man in his bed. Unfortunately, the man had been murdered and apparently left there.
The image of Palm Springs as a special playland for financially successful, older gay men is reinforced heavily here, with the focus on a gay resort that encourages handsome younger men to become part of the decor, and do what they will to snare a rich sugar daddy. The murder victim was one of those young men, and the manner in which he was killed ... involving the particularly lethal snake venom ... suggests the death was not just a sudden crime of passion. Working with a local homicide detective who warns them that powerful locals are watching, and they have to take care not to "step on toes," Tom and Stanley are soon finding additional victims, while the killer sends a clear message that they could be next, unless they back off.
Mr. Banis is a master at crafting a suspenseful, credible mystery, and this, the latest in his "Deadly" series featuring Tom and Stanley, is no exception. It does seem that the author might be tiring a bit of the characters, and their interplay is somewhat inconsistent, but it is still a great read and much recommended to mystery buffs. Four stars out of five.

Tom and Stanley, Where Are You?
The first books in this series are fast-paced and amazing, with uber-macho, straight (he thinks, at first) Detective Tom Danzel and pretty, petite Stanley Korski solving chilling crimes and falling in love, hard, over the course of the first three books. Then the stories detour into weirdo-land with Deadly Slumber (the funeral home book), and now this one...
The murder plot and motive was okay, but what really makes this series shine is the sharp, witty interplay and the love between Tom and Stanley. It isn't until halfway through this book that their personal relationship is addressed, and to me it felt as though what made them 'Tom and Stanley' was missing. The end of the book rallies some in this regard, but the ending is rushed and abrupt, and therefore unsatisfying.
However, I adore these characters and should Mr.
