Ok, today your decade under the influence crew takes on 1978’s classic (Halloween) our third John Carpenter film that we have showcased. Also our this is the only quote unquote slasher movie that we would ever touch. Please see our (women in peril) episode for more info on all that.

Actually most of the reasons that this writer loves this film have nothing to do with horror or gore at all.

 Donald Pleasence, Jamie Lee Curtis, the Ramones fanatic from rock n roll high school, and Nancy Kyes from assault on precinct 13, star in this, oh yeah also one the great Santini’s kids are here too among other rad talented people that you’ll hear all about if you’d just press play.

Yes, here are six more, with 4 from 1974. 1974 was also a good year for progressive rock.

Your decade under the influence crew starts things off today with (Across 110th street 1972). Here you have Anthony Quinn, Yaphet Kotto, and A truly radical ending, also the damned theme song is still stuck in my head. Next we review the second Dick Lester musketeers movie, (The four Musketeers 1974) same cast as the first plus Charlton Heston. Quickly moving on to (it’s Alive 1974)

What if your baby came out of the Shute with baby hands that kill almost everything that gets too close to them. Also what is it? Where is it from? And just perhaps maybe, why is movie?

Next up Steve McQueen and Paul Newman try to out Star each other in (The towering inferno 1974). Oily rags do it again here, also the hunk from the thorn birds cut corners, and mommy dearest wasn’t given enough to do. 

In (Willie Dynamite 1974) Gordon leaves Sesame Street and  is big pimpin in a car with huge ass pipes, and Diana Sands as Cora tries to get Willie to wise up.

Finally today  we end with 1979’s (The great Santini) Robert Duvall stars as a Military douche with a wife, four kids, and a heart of gold. Hmmmmm I dunno don’t quote me on that last one.

Directed by Richard Donner, yes the Goonies guy, also Ladyhawke, Superman 1 and 2, lethal weapon 1 2 3 and 4, Scrooged and the rather problematic The Toy.

Diving in quickly today we review

Girl stroke boy 1971- An early transgender film from England.

Speeding up time 1971-is a low budget film very vaguely about  revolution, poetry, love , and vengeance.

Ingmar Bergman’s The Touch 1971 Finds Bibi Anderson, Elliot Gould, and Max Von Sidow, in relationship trouble, and Gould shouldn’t be touching anyone here.

Roy Scheider drives past a “chock full o nuts coffeehouse in 1973’s classic film The seven-ups, and I have explain that it’s real place and share it’s weird jingle. 

John Voight is a journalist turned nazi hunter thanks to reading,  in The Oddessa File 1974.  John Wayne drinks boilermakers in London with Richard Attenborough in 1975’s  Brannigan.

Mr. sycamore 1975- Jason Robards and Sandy Dennis Star in this one about Jason  wanting to become a tree.

In Shock waves 1977 Peter Cushing plays his 2nd fascist that year.

In, A question of love 1978- Gena Rowlands and Jane Alexander star in a film about rad lesbian parents versus Ned Beatty and homophobia.

Convoy 1978- working class truckers take on the man! Stars many peeps but Madge Sinclair is our fav.

Mother sister from (Do the right thing) and many other great actors assemble to give us the screen adaptation of fierce  AF Maya Angelou’s book, I know why the caged bird sings 1979.

Movie review time again and today we’ve got 7 to discuss. Speaking of reviews here’s 2 right now just for the synopsis readers. New Iron Maiden video gets a ten while the song gets a three, and the New Devo video (Gerry Casale) gets a, song 9 and video 9, but that’s just me. 

We begin this week with Robert Altman’s 

1972 offering (Images) starring Odo of DS9. 

Next up, eight directors go to the 1972 Olympics in (Visions of eight) 1973.

The king of cartoons takes on a sassy foul mouthed demon in (Abby) 1974.

A budget Randy Newman with the best hair and bizarre/bad lyrics plays piano for us in (Welcome to LA) 1976.  

Sly and Lando fight crime in ( Nighthawks) 1978. JK, sorry couldn’t resist, this is a rad, rare glimpse into London’s gay club scene as seen through the eyes of a school teacher who is forced to hide who he is  because of a horrible barrier to evolution that is a 2,000 year old book and………. Sorry could not resist again. Moving on to 

(Friendship secrets and lies) 1979. Six sorority sisters  re-unite to look at the past and seriously get awesome. 

Finally this episode closes out with (Quintet) 1979, where Paul Newman doesn’t explain a game, and tells us that before he gave us expensive Oreo’s and fine salad dressings, he gave us this bad sci movie. Always sad when sci fi goes bad.

Today we watch and review our 3rd best picture winning film, Kramer vs. Kramer.

Big one for us 70’s movie fans, and of course, films fans in general. I enjoyed  diving into this one very much.
