When we talk about building generational wealth in the US, we’re mostly talking about property ownership. But often, the conversation is far more complex: there's grief and estate management when someone dies and wealth is passed on. And for Black Americans, holding onto something like a family home can be slippery. In Detroit, the gains Black families made over generations have been eroded by foreclosures, scams, and limited access to credit. Today, we talk with an award-winning poet in Detroit about her efforts to keep her family home... in the family.
