ACT 2: The Podcast

A DREAM DEFERRED

Listen Later

At the age of probably 7, it’s probably safe to say we all had a dream job. A doctor, lawyer, police officer, firefighter, teacher, or nurse may be some of the most common answers at that time. Considering the evolution of what children are exposed to today, not really sure how those answers would hood up. Nevertheless, we all had a dream job in our minds. How many of us actually followed that dream?  Studies show about 40% of people surveyed are said to be working in the career they dreamed of. That means the other 6 out of 10 people went in a different direction. Doesn’t mean it’s all bad. Things change & we have to do what’s necessary to keep going. If asked today, is your dream still the same as it was when you first considered your career path?  Oftentimes dreams are sidetracked when we realize the profitability may not support the lifestyle we desire. People can say “money doesn’t make you happy”, but we all know not having enough of it may add to your unhappiness. So how willing are you to forego financial gain to live out your dream?   Kudos to those that decide it’s never too late and make the decisions to spin the block to continue the chase of their dream, whether from childhood or a new desire. It’s not easy being on a path and deciding to make a left to do something different. A lot can be at stake when deciding to throw caution to the wind and going for something new. However, the satisfaction gained may all be worth it.  A dream deferred does not mean a canceled dream. Also, a different dream doesn’t equate to being a quitter. We all are faced with decisions and they may not lead us where we thought we’d go. But as long as we keep going, new dreams can be realized and fulfilled.  Check out Episode 102 and join the conversation!
