It is a little more challenging to read Goodwin, but it's worth it! In this book he is helping us preach the gospel to ourselves by considering Romans 8:34. If you stick with him, you will discover such great encouragements for your faith. 

If you are going to be godly, you need a certain kind of knowledge. Watson describes it, then asks if you have it, and gives certain steps you must take if you are going to obtain it. 

We are in section 1 chapter 3 of Christ Set Forth where he considers Christ as the object of faith. As he does, Goodwin is helping us learn what it means to preach the gospel to ourselves everyday. 

Thomas Goodwin is helping us think about what it means to put our faith in Christ as the grounds for our justification before God. 

Watson begins describing what a godly man looks like. He begins with knowledge. A godly man is a man of knowledge. He then describes what kind of knowledge a godly man possesses.
