A Frightfully Delightful Podcast

Season 2 Episode 4 - February 21, 2025

In this episode we are welcoming our first ever guest to the pod, Sterling Moon! Sterling is an author, teacher, medium, paranormal explorer and witch.

Sterling’s book ‘Talking to Spirits’ hit the shelves in February 2023 and just a few months later that same book came flying off the shelf at the shop Amanda was working at encouraging her to read it. Sharing the book and experience with Luna started the pair on a journey participating in Sterling’s annual (free!) Month of Mediumship and ultimately becoming alumni of Sterling’s Modern Mediums course.

We love being a part of Sterling's community and we are excited to bring you a glimpse of it through this conversation with her.

When one journey ends, a new one is sure to begin! As we close this chapter while also closing the distance between our physical vessels we prepare ourselves for what comes next: A new Frightfully Delightful adventure is upon us! Join us as we end this chapter and prepare to start a fresh new one. Luna shares a possible encounter with a Marsh Mimic while trying to record the peepers (and their “pond lovin”, thanks for pointing that out Ryan lmao!). Amanda reads a beautiful poem by William Moore and gets humbled by moss while preparing Luna’s new house for her arrival.

You may have noticed we removed our Land Acknowledgements from the opening of our pod. We are making changes to how we approach land acknowledgements, that represent our current understanding of Indigenous Sovereignty and how to show up as meaningful accomplices in Land Back efforts and initiatives.

We are always striving to show up and listen, learn and commit to action. This was sparked by a powerful conversation started by Relentless Indigenous Woman on her socials. We’ll talk more about it in our next episode but for now please check her out and follow her everywhere (she also has a podcast!)

Yesterday, May 5th was MMIWG2S+ awareness day - Call to Action 41 of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission states: "We call upon the federal government, in consultation with Aboriginal organizations, to appoint a public inquiry into the causes of, and remedies for, the disproportionate victimization of Aboriginal women and girls. The inquiry’s mandate would include: Investigation into missing and murdered Aboriginal women and girls. Links to the intergenerational legacy of residential schools.

The AFN and the AFN Women’s Council released “Breathing Life into the Calls for Justice: An Action Plan to End Violence Against First Nations Women, Girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ People” with recommendations in four priority areas:

Justice: address barriers and inequalities in Canada’s justice system

Human security: ensure equitable access to basic needs, including shelter, food, and education

Health and wellness: provide services and programs that are culturally appropriate and trauma informed

Culture as safety: make cultural identity a priority in all preventative, supportive, and healing activities

Unreserved: Tackling the Crisis of MMIWG2S+  https://open.spotify.com/episode/7r7NEnbXnuJfO8MsxFeovC?si=VWoqrn4TTJKCIzYvseqPXg

Awareness is the first step - putting actionable everyday motivations behind the awareness is next.

In this episode we discuss a huge passion for the both of us - Dreams! In this laidback discussion we go over some folklore, our own personal experiences, some casual advice for dream recall, dream divination and even how dreams are what connected us and started our friendship. We’re certainly no experts on the subject but we sure do have a lot of passion for exploring our dream worlds and selves!

Are you ready for Chapter 3 of our Cryptid Compendium series?! We begin by catching our dear listeners up on what’s been happening for us this past month or so. Luna’s body can now make its own stones! Amanda has found deeper meaning within the lyrics of songs she loved as a teen. For Ch.3 of the Cryptid Compendium we delve into the mysteries of the Werewolf examining the overlap between myth and cryptid lore. This episode crosses the full spectrum, from the jovial rituals of Lupercalia to the darker depths of a condition known as Lycanthropy. Join us in a good howl under the Full Moon!
