Sl: Matej je stal pred ljubljansko srednjo šolo.
En: Matej stood in front of a Ljubljana high school.
Sl: Bil je hit in mraz, sneg pa je počasi padal s sivega neba.
En: It was windy and cold, and snow was slowly falling from the gray sky.
Sl: Šola je bila polna prazničnih okraskov.
En: The school was full of festive decorations.
Sl: Na hodnikih je bilo veselo in glasno.
En: The corridors were lively and loud.
Sl: V razredu pa je potekal Izmenjava Secret Santa.
En: In the classroom, however, a Secret Santa exchange was taking place.
Sl: Matej je stiskal darilo v rokah.
En: Matej clutched the gift in his hands.
Sl: Bil je nervozen.
En: He was nervous.
Sl: Luka ga je trepljal po hrbtu.
En: Luka patted him on the back.
Sl: "Daj, Matej, ne bit takšen.
En: "Come on, Matej, don't be like that.
Sl: Nini bo všeč karkoli ji daš," ga je bodril Luka s širokim nasmehom.
En: Nina will like whatever you give her," Luka encouraged him with a wide smile.
Sl: Matej pa je bil zaskrbljen.
En: But Matej was worried.
Sl: V glavi je premleval, ali naj ostane pri darilnem bonu ali pa da Nini nekaj posebnega, kar je sam naredil.
En: He was mulling over in his head whether to stick with a gift card or give Nina something special that he had made himself.
Sl: Matej je imel v rokah svojo beležko.
En: Matej held his notebook.
Sl: Notri je bil njegov poseben skicir.
En: Inside was his special sketch.

En: He loved drawing so much.
Sl: A še nikoli ga ni pokazal nikomur.
En: But he had never shown it to anyone.
Sl: Ta sklic je bil za Nino.
En: This sketch was for Nina.

En: He knew it would show how much he admired her.
Sl: Matej je požiral sline in se odločal.
En: Matej swallowed his saliva and was deciding.

En: When the gift exchange came, Nina approached Matej.
Sl: On je tresoče izročil darilo, ki je bilo zavito v preprost rdeč papir.
En: He tremblingly handed over the present, wrapped in plain red paper.
