Why was a drag show held on public elementary school grounds?
A family-friendly Pride event featuring drag performances was held on public school property, sparking backlash and raising serious questions about children, parental rights, school board oversight, and who approved the facility rental. Although the school district said it did not sponsor the event, an outside organization was permitted to rent the elementary school grounds for the gathering.
In this episode of A Girl and Her Dad, Jackie and her dad discuss the drag show controversy, the school district’s response, whether public schools should rent their facilities for politically and culturally controversial events, and what concerned parents can do when they believe school leadership has crossed a line.
We also examine the difference between allowing private expression and using taxpayer-supported school property for an event involving children. Does approving a facility rental amount to endorsing the event? Should the same standards apply to religious, conservative, political, and Pride organizations? And where should schools draw the line?
Watch the full conversation and tell us what you think in the comments:
Should drag performances marketed as family-friendly ever be held on elementary school property?

We go through his record point by point, and along the way, I challenge my dad on whether the right is actually making a persuasive case against socialist ideas at all.

Spencer Pratt's entry into the Los Angeles mayoral race is about much more than a former reality TV star running for office. It reflects growing frustration among voters who believe California's political establishment has failed to address some of the state's biggest challenges, including homelessness, crime, affordability, public safety, and quality of life.
In this episode of A Girl and Her Dad, we break down why Spencer Pratt's campaign is gaining attention, what it says about the current state of Los Angeles politics, and why figures like Karen Bass, Gavin Newsom, and Nithya Raman are facing increasing criticism from frustrated residents.
Is Spencer Pratt a serious political candidate, or is his rise simply a symptom of deeper problems in California government? We discuss the growing disconnect between political leaders and everyday voters, the future of Los Angeles, and what happens when public confidence in institutions begins to erode.
