In this episode, we journey through Romans 11:13–24, where the Apostle Paul reveals a powerful truth about our identity in Christ using two key images: first fruits and olive branches.
Paul begins with the imagery of first fruit and dough (Romans 11:16), drawing from Numbers 15, where Israel offered the first portion of their dough to the Lord. When the first portion was consecrated, the entire batch was considered holy. Paul is saying:
Then Paul transitions to the image of the olive tree, Israel as the cultivated tree, and Gentiles as wild branches grafted in by grace. This is both an invitation and a warning:
✅ Invitation: We are included in God’s covenant family, not by birthright or behavior, but by faith alone.
⚠️ Warning: Do not boast or become arrogant. The branches do not support the root, the ROOT (Jesus) supports us.
Paul challenges us to examine what we are truly rooted in. If God did not spare the natural branches for their unbelief, why would we assume He would overlook pride or unbelief in us?
But even in His warning, Paul reminds us of God’s kindness and mercy:
He is kind to those who continue in faith,
But severe toward persistent unbelief.
So how do we remain rooted? Paul’s answer connects beautifully to John 15:4-5, where Jesus says:
Jesus doesn’t command us to produce fruit. He calls us to ABIDE. The fruit is the reward, abiding is our responsibility.
In this episode, we discuss:
✔ What it really means to be “holy” and why it’s more about identity than perfection
✔ The danger of spiritual arrogance when we forget our source
✔ How grace grafts us in, but only faith keeps us rooted
✔ Why abiding, not striving, is the key to lasting fruitfulness
Whether you’ve been walking with God for years or feel like a wild branch barely han
going on, this message is an invitation to stay rooted, stay humble, and stay connected to the Root.
Listen now and be strengthened in your faith!
If the root is holy, everything connected to it becomes holy.“ Consider the goodness and severity of God…” (Romans 11:22)“Abide in Me… for without Me, you can do nothing.”
