Story Transcript:
Sk: Zima zakrývala Bratislavu snehom ako bielym plášťom.
En: Winter covered Bratislava with snow like a white blanket.
Sk: Ulica pred školou štebotala hlasmi rodičov a učiteľov.
En: The street in front of the school buzzed with the voices of parents and teachers.
Sk: Vianočné svetlá viseli nad nimi, no pre Marka to znamenalo len ďalší dôvod na starosti.
En: Christmas lights hung above them, but for Marek, it only meant another reason to worry.
En: It was the day of the parent-teacher meeting, a day he wanted to skip at all costs.
En: Marek stumbled along the sidewalk, seeking refuge in the park.
Sk: Rozloha zasneženého parku mu ponúkla aspoň chvíľu pokoja.
En: The expanse of the snow-covered park offered him at least a moment of peace.
Sk: Vedel, že rodičia Veronika a Pavol budú čakať odpovede.
En: He knew that his parents, Veronika and Pavol, would be waiting for answers.
Sk: Bude to konfrontácia.
En: It would be a confrontation.
En: They would talk about his poor grades, his lack of motivation.
Sk: Marek si však veril, že im nič nemôže povedať, niečo, čo už nevedeli.
En: Marek believed, however, that there was nothing he could tell them that they didn't already know.
En: In the school, where the parents gathered, every corner was adorned with some unfinished decoration or garland.
Sk: Chodby boli chladné a priesvitné okná ukazovali stále pršiace biele vločky.
En: The halls were cold, and the translucent windows showcased the ever-falling white flakes.
En: However, the atmosphere at the conference quickly warmed up, though for different reasons.
En: Pavol loudly demanded an explanation from the teacher, Mária, why Marek had worsened.
Sk: Zatiaľ čo Veronika, ktorú tam prekvapivo zobrali so sebou, skúšala situáciu upokojiť.
En: Meanwhile, Veronika, who had surprisingly been brought along, tried to calm the situation.
Sk: "Potrebujeme pochopiť Marka," povedala verne.
En: "We need to understand Marek," she said earnestly.
Sk: Medzitým Marek sedel na lavičke v parku, a cez vaľcovú vrstvu snehu počul len vzdialené hlasy.
En: Meanwhile, Marek sat on a bench in the park, and through the thick layer of snow, he only heard distant voices.
Sk: Napätie v jeho vnútri ho nútilo ujsť, no zároveň ho ťažilo.
En: The tension within him urged him to run, yet it also burdened him.
Sk: Také ticho je lepšie, myslel si.
En: Such silence is better, he thought.
Sk: Zasnívaný pohľad upieral na zamrznuté konáre, až ho prekvapili kroky.
En: His dreamy gaze was fixed on the frozen branches until he was surprised by footsteps.
Sk: Bola to Veronika.
En: It was Veronika.
Sk: "Marek, musíme ísť.
En: "Marek, we need to go.
Sk: Rodičia ťa potrebujú počuť.
En: Your parents need to hear you."
Sk: "On váhal, no Veronikina ruka na jeho ramene ho upokojovala.
En: He hesitated, but Veronika's hand on his shoulder reassured him.
Sk: "Bude to dobré," dodala.
En: "It will be okay," she added.
Sk: Spolu kráčali tichou ulicou, a hoci sa Marek bál hodnotenia, pocítil vďaku za sestru vedľa seba.
En: Together, they walked down the quiet street, and although Marek feared judgment, he felt grateful for his sister beside him.
Sk: Keď vošli do školy, rodičia sa znova stíšili.
En: When they entered the school, the parents quieted down again.
Sk: Marek položil svoje slová, kde doteraz nechcel.
En: Marek put his words where he hadn't wanted to until now.
Sk: "Nie je to ľahké," začal.
En: "It's not easy," he began.
En: "I don't know what to do, but I want to figure it out."
En: Marek promised nothing, but the fact that he turned to his loved ones and ended the uncertainty counted more.
Sk: Vzrastanie mieru v učebni bolo zázračné, podobne ako to vnútorné teplo počas zimnej noci.
En: The rise of peace in the classroom was magical, much like the inner warmth during a winter night.
Sk: Pri odchode Marcove oči padli na vianočné svetlá.
En: As they left, Marek's eyes fell on the Christmas lights.
En: Maybe they will turn into good Easter ones, he thought, smiling faintly.
En: Christmas wasn't just about the tree and lights but also about a family finding their way together.
Sk: A Marek sa rozhodol ísť tou cestou, ktorá vedie späť domov, tam, kde patrí.
En: And Marek decided to take the path that leads back home, where he belongs.
