The Church as a diverse community of equal members is called by God to reflect peace out into a world full of pain, brokenness, and racial hostility. In Acts 11, the Jews receive the Gentiles into the body of Messiah for the first time in history. In light of this week’s horrific racially-charged killings in Charleston, Acts 11 presents a timely challenge for the Church to be a community of Holy Spirit-empowered reconciliation and forgiveness.
