Welcome back to the Texas News Podcast! This week’s episode was filmed prior to the official dismissal of State. Rep. Jeff Leach’s defamation lawsuit. However, our deep dive into this groundbreaking case will still, nonetheless, provide you with the best insight to understand the judge’s decision. On this episode, we are joined by the famed fired-up Texas lawyer and attorney on the Leach lawsuit, Paul Davis. We discuss the very first oral arguments in this litigation and talk about what this hearing means for the future of Texas. You won’t want to miss this.
The current political climate has loosened many tongues and people don’t want to be held accountable for what they say. State Rep. Jeff Leach is a prime example, especially after being served with a defamation lawsuit for calling TEXIT supporters “unequivocally” advocates of treason or sedition. While the lawsuit was ultimately dismissed, all in all, by no means is it a crime to support the TEXIT bill, and government officials shouldn't be accusing their constituents of felonies that carry a death sentence, simply for wanting their voice to be heard.
