Cs: Křišťálově čisté ráno, když slunce pomalu zbarvovalo věže Karlova mostu do zlaté, Jan a Lucie se procházeli po jeho kamenné dlážděné cestě.
En: A crystal-clear morning, as the sun slowly turned the towers of the Charles Bridge golden, Jan and Lucie strolled along its cobblestone path.

Cs: Jan se rozhodl ukázat Lucii, jak moudrý a vzdělaný je.
En: Jan decided to show Lucie how wise and educated he was.

Cs: „Víš, Lucie," řekl Jan se sebevědomým úsměvem na tváři, „tento most postavil císař Fridrich Veliký v roce 1492."
En: "You know, Lucie," Jan said with a confident smile, "this bridge was built by Emperor Friedrich the Great in 1492."

Cs: Lucie se zájmem poslouchala, ale nebyla si jistá, zda má Jan pravdu.
En: Lucie listened with interest but wasn't sure if Jan was right.

Cs: Karlův most byl přece slavný most v Praze, ne Berlíně.
En: The Charles Bridge was, after all, a famous bridge in Prague, not Berlin.

Cs: „Jan, jsi si jistý?" zeptala se opatrně.
En: "Jan, are you sure?" she asked cautiously.

Cs: Jan pokývl hlavou a pokračoval: „Ano, samozřejmě. A víš, proč byl postaven? Měl chránit město před útoky Vikingů."
En: Jan nodded and continued, "Yes, of course. And do you know why it was built? To protect the city from Viking attacks."

Cs: Lucie se pokusila skrýt své pochybnosti, ale Janovy informace se jí nezdály správné.
En: Lucie tried to hide her doubts, but Jan's information didn't seem correct.

Cs: Položila ruku na jeho rameno a jemně poznamenala: „Ale Jan, nebyl Karlův most postaven ve 14. století podle nařízení Karla IV.?"
En: She placed a hand on his shoulder and gently noted, "But Jan, wasn't the Charles Bridge built in the 14th century by order of Charles IV?"

Cs: Janovy tváře zčervenaly.
En: Jan's cheeks turned red.

Cs: Byl si jistý, že jeho verze je správná.
En: He was certain that his version was correct.

Cs: „Ne, ne, určitě pletu Janův most s tím ve Francii!" zamumlal si pro sebe.
En: "No, no, I'm surely confusing the Charles Bridge with the one in France!" he muttered to himself.

Cs: V této chvíli je přerušily zvuky turistů a projíždějících lodí po Vltavě.
En: At this moment, the sounds of tourists and passing boats on the Vltava River interrupted them.

Cs: Jan se náhle rozhodl změnit téma.
En: Jan suddenly decided to change the topic.

Cs: „Lucie, podívej se na ten krásný výhled. Vidíš ty úchvatné sochy?"
En: "Lucie, look at that beautiful view. Do you see those stunning statues?"

Cs: Lucie se usmála a podívala se na sochu Svatého Jana Nepomuckého.
En: Lucie smiled and looked at the statue of St. John of Nepomuk.

Cs: „Ano, Jan. Je nádherný. Víš, že tady lidé pokládají přání, když se dotknou kříže?"
En: "Yes, Jan. It's magnificent. Do you know that people make wishes here when they touch the cross?"

Cs: „Samozřejmě!“ odpověděl Jan hned a pokynul Lucii, aby se k němu připojila při dotyku sochy.
En: "Of course!" Jan replied immediately and motioned for Lucie to join him in touching the statue.

Cs: „Přej si něco hezkého, Lucie."
En: "Make a nice wish, Lucie."

Cs: Lucie zavřela oči a lehce se dotkla kříže.
En: Lucie closed her eyes and lightly touched the cross.

Cs: „Udělá mi radost,“ začala, „když bychom mohli být upřímní jeden k druhému a vždy podporovali naše sny a cíle."
En: "It would make me happy," she began, "if we could be honest with each other and always support our dreams and goals."

Cs: Jan ji jemně vzal za ruku.
En: Jan gently took her hand.

Cs: „Máš pravdu, Lucie. Promiň, že jsem se chlubil něčím, čemu ani pořádně nerozumím. Bylo by lepší, kdybychom si prostě užívali společný čas."
En: "You're right, Lucie. I'm sorry for bragging about something I don't even truly understand. It would be better if we just enjoyed our time together."

Cs: Lucie se usmála. „To je ten nejlepší plán."
En: Lucie smiled. "That's the best plan."

Cs: Jan a Lucie se potom prošli po zbylých částech mostu, tentokrát bez větších historických nepřesností.
En: Jan and Lucie then walked across the rest of the bridge, this time without any major historical inaccuracies.

Cs: Každý krok přítomnosti jim ukázal, že skutečná krása spočívá v jednoduchosti a upřímnosti, ne v nadsázce a přefantazírované historii.
En: Each step in their present showed them that true beauty lies in simplicity and honesty, not in exaggeration and embellished history.

Cs: Vzduch voněl nadějí a začátkem něčeho krásného.
En: The air smelled of hope and the beginning of something beautiful.
