There was a wedding in Schmidrüti on February 18, 1978, and as is still the custom in many places, three salutes were fired into the sky in the village early in the morning. Two or three seconds after the third salute, a tremendous clap of thunder roared over the roof of our house, shaking the entire house to its foundations. Everything that wasn't nailed down clinked and rattled.
To Billy, the whole thing seemed like a sonic boom, which is what he told us, and as he explained, he had experienced such blows on several occasions before. During one such experience in the Persian desert, he witnessed how an old hut that he had left immediately before the thunder was simply destroyed by such a sonic boom and how it collapsed as if by magic. As he credibly assured us, given the strength of the blow that had roared over our house, this should have happened to the Semjase Silver Star Center in the same way that Billy had experienced in the desert many years ago.
The reason why it did not come to that was because Billy's wife, Kalliope, whom he and we only called "Popi", had been in the hospital for a few days, where she had to undergo a surgical procedure. Since Billy was very worried about her, he was observed by Quetzal and Menara, who subsequently witnessed the incident and had the presence of mind to ensure that we got through everything unscathed.
The following happened: Quetzal and Menara were in their beam ship at a low altitude directly above the roof of the center. After the second salute in the village, they saw a triangular ship rushing up from the south, which h
