In celebration of Radiothon 2015, we dig into the archives to explore the memories of just some of the amazing community elders who have worked incredibly hard for many years to shape JOY into what it is today. We are so grateful to all of you for your priceless past and present efforts!

It was JOY’s 21st birthday on World AIDS Day 2014. Chris, Gordon and Phil interviewed John Oliver, member #1 and the founder of JOY and Philip Burt, JOY’s first Treasurer, about the genesis of everybody’s favourite radio station.

For 15 years, Addam Stobbs and Peter Fortey presented their famous program, Allegro Non Troppo. Addam Stobbs died suddenly in the early hours of Wednesday 16 June 2010. Addam Stobbs’ commitment to community radio and passion for teaching was unparalleled; join Peter Fortey with two of Addam’s former students, Dean Beck and Sue Wilkinson, as they celebrate the life of a true community leader.

Anne Hamilton talks about her quintessential Aussie childhood, finding JOY 94.9 and the impact it had on her life. Anne was made a life member of JOY 94.9 in 2007.

And Andrea and Alice have a chat with John Oliver, founding member of JOY, about building community radio, making funny memories and what it means to all of us!
