I’m not sure why people today think they can do things without reaping the consequences that come with those actions. God said it enough in His word. The phrase is well known in the general populace. Common sense should tell you actions create consequences from the first time you stick your finger in a flame. But time and again I see people thinking they will get away with their bad behavior. They think nothing will happen. They think what they do will have no effect on their life or the lives of others. It’s as if someone sucked out their brain just before they decide to participate in behavior they know is wrong. That law hasn’t changed since creation. Don’t expect God to change it any time soon.

Galatians chapter 5 from Paul’s letter written 2,000 years ago to a church in Galatia could just as easily be addressed to many churches around the world today. How did so many of you get so far away from the truth of God's word? He called you to the freedom as He taught you with His example as He walked among you. He still lived within not just the letter, but the spirit of the law given on Mount Sinai to Moses. But He refused to bow to the ridiculous traditions that pulled people away from His command to love each other.

It is so easy to slip into the Pharisaical bonds of religious order. Just follow the rules and you’ll make it to heaven. The problem with following the rules is no one can do it. Since Adam first fell to the temptation of Satan in the garden and disobeyed God's rule concerning the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, humankind has failed to keep the rules. Some seem simple, but as you heard from Jesus when He spoke, even the simplest become the seeds for transgression in the mind of sinful man.

The laws point to the coming of God's salvation for you. From the day Adam and Eve failed to obey Him, He made provision for them to find forgiveness. The laws before His coming seemed quite cumbersome to the Israelites, but they all pointed to His coming in the flesh to redeem all of humankind who would trust in Him. For those who willingly gave up the rights to themselves and took Him on as their total life manager, they found He could keep them free from the guilt of sin. He could do something the law couldn’t do. God could forgive and empower them to really live. The impossibility of the law becomes possible in Him.

Is it possible to turn political privilege around? It is possible. But it will take a great revival in this and many other countries around the world. God has told you in His prophecies time will come to an end when certain things happen. Look around. Most already have passed by. The rest could happen very quickly or He could continue to take His time about coming back. It’s partly up to you. How much do you want revival in the land? Are you willing to pay the price for it? It won’t be easy. But all things are possible for those who believe in Him.

The story of Paul’s conversion is well known. How God met him on his way to Damascus to persecute His followers there. How God blinded him and showed him what he was doing to His church and the people who knew the truth about Him. Paul changed in that encounter. There is something to remember in what happens after that first encounter, though, that many forget today.

Simple rules to live by. Just love God with your whole self, body, mind, and spirit. Say yes to what He asks. Obey His rules and commands. That’s it. Not a lot to remember. God doesn’t want to make this so complex and difficult that you have a hard time doing it. He wants you to succeed. He wants you to join Him in everlasting life one day. And He wants you to begin that journey now.

The provision clauses on God's side of His covenant get pretty lengthy. The requirement clauses on your side are pretty small. But they are significant. They are wrapped up in faith, love, trust. Your part of the covenant isn’t much, but it will mean giving up yourself and living for Him. It will mean letting God be the Lord, Master, Director of your life. It will mean transforming your mind to the mind of Christ. It will mean living as a sacrifice to Him each day.

What do you get in return for adhering to the covenant? Eternal life. Heaven. Christ living in you every day empowering you to really live. It’s a good deal. I’d take it if I were you.

Look around the rooms in your house. What do you have that reminds you to talk to God? What causes you or your children or your guests to ask questions about Him? How can you improve the decor of your home, your office, your car, anywhere you spend time so that you are reminded to carry out His commands, tell others of Him, talk to Him, witness for Him? 

Every day the media bombards you with it’s messages to lure you away from God. Isn’t it about time you do something to remind yourself to remember Him? Look around. Make it happen. It’s not hard.

What has happened today? The family, parental responsibility, reliance upon grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins to share common values has all but disappeared because a couple of generations now failed to teach their children My ways, My laws. Until parents begin to be parents again instead of just progenitors the problem will increase. Until parents take responsibility for teaching their children My laws, the true, long-lasting values of life that will lead you into the next life, families will continue to degrade and society will continue to fall into greater disarray and dissolution.
