Elijah believed, “I alone am left,” but God commissioned him to anoint Elisha with the mantle of his identity. Because Elisha valued and trusted his spiritual father, God was able to impart even greater power into his ministry. In the same way, John the Baptist prepared the way of the Lord by turning the hearts of the children to their fathers.
Rather than the curse of barrenness, God desires a corporate expression of sonship, in which we all receive the mantle of our inheritance—the transmission of greater power and unity.
