When Al Borland (Richard Karn) discovers a Swiss Army Knife missing from Harry’s Hardware, he suggests to Tim (Tim Allen) that one of his sons may have stolen it, as they were the last people seen admiring it before it disappeared. Tim and Jill (Patricia Richardson) are dubious, and the boys claim innocence – but when Tim discovers the missing knife in a pair of Mark’s jeans, his anger at the theft and Mark’s deception leads him to yell at the boy and label him a no good thief. When a traumatized Mark disappears afterwards, Tim learns from Wilson (Earl Hindman) that sometimes there’s value in a gentler approach to discipline.
