Time frame for romance is unrealistic

I read this as part of The McKenna Family bundle. This is the first story about the eldest of 5 siblings, the H, who is a loan officer at a bank. The h has a B & B and has struggled to make ends meet for a few years. The main characters meet when her mortgage comes due and she needs to refinance. The H is not convinced that the bank should refinance the loan because he thinks the h is in over her head. The h is a widow with a four year old daughter and she knows that running the B & B is the best way for her to be at home with her daughter and she's convinced she can make a success of things.

The biggest issue I had with this book is the time frame in which things happen. In a matter of days the h sleeps with the H and then knows she's in love with him and hopes he might propose. They have quite a few bitter disagreements (pretty nasty verbal fights) and he admits he was going to propose and then is very mean to the h about not doing so. This couldn't have been even a week after they meet. It was also stretching things to imagine that the H's grandmother would stand as guarantee for the h's loan after knowing her for a few days. There is a very annoying secondary female character that lives with the h and helps out with the daughter and the B & B. She also meets a guy and then speaks about marrying him after a week. It was all a bit odd and I just didn't see how they could resolve everything and decide to get married in such a short period of time given how mean they were to each other. I wasn't a great believer in their hea.

I Liked it!

Leigh Michaels is one of my favorite Harlequin Romance book authors and I liked this book about the romance of a guy named Patrick McKenna and a lady named Camryn Hastings. I enjoyed this book but didn't find it to be a keeper.
