I met Rehan at the beginning of Covid on a ranch in Santa Fe. After mentioning that my podcast features taboo conversations about a variety of topics, he asked if I'd ever discussed terrorism and the War on Terror & started talking about how bizarre he thought it was that the US had waged an entire war against what he described as "local gangsters". I was intrigued, to say the least, and a year and a half later, we sat down to talk about it. Rehan grew up in Pakistan, but came to the US for college, and has lived here ever since. He's a journalist, writer and a playwright, currently working on a project for Frontline/PBS about majoritarianism. We speak about the fallacies surrounding the War on Terror (of which there are many), and unpack how on a grand scale, the US effectively fabricated an enemy, and constructed and proliferated a war based on misguided judgement and vastly overblown risk.

Tzeporah is a Canadian environmental activist, campaigner and writer. She has worked in environmentalism for 30 years, is the co-founder and International Program Director at Stand.Earth and the Chair of the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty Initiative. From being arrested at the front lines of forest conservation initiatives, to speaking directly with the CEOs of fossil fuel corporations, Tzeporah has seen it all. We speak about regulation as it relates to both consumption and production, the difference between being a citizen vs. being a consumer, and we dissect the complexities of locating “responsibility” for ending the climate crisis. We discuss how humans are not separate from nature, but a part of nature itself, the unknown long-term effects of clearcutting and reforestation, and how to create hope in a seemingly hopeless situation.

Jenny joins me on the podcast once again, this time to talk about the astrological significance and underpinning of generations. We speak about every generation from the Baby Boomers through to Gen Z, and give some context for how each can be viewed through the lens of astrology, karma and collective purpose. What does the Hero's Journey look like on a generation scale? What can we define as the collective shadow of a generation? How does each generation fit together thematically and what might we glean from their chronology? We also speak about the most recent, as of yet unnamed generation and provide some thoughts on what their journey may look like based on what's currently going on in the world.

When I launched this podcast 3 years ago, I would have never been able to predict that this monumental 100th episode would be shared with my Mother. In fact, at the time, we weren’t even speaking to one another. This conversation tracks my own ancestral history from the life of my grandmother, to my mother, to me. We speak about family patterns, trauma, the mother wound, codependency, and the excruciatingly painful two years we spent apart from one another in 2017 & 2018. If you have a Mom, or a daughter, or want to reinvigorate your belief in hope, change and forgiveness, this conversation shouldn’t be missed. Thank you, Mom, for sharing this moment with me, and to Doren and Sherry for helping us in spirit, every step of the way. Also, a huge thank you to all of the wonderful, unimaginably beautiful humans that listen to this podcast. Here’s to many more…

Two-thirds of Kosmic Tonic join me on the podcast this week to discuss all things Venus. We unpack the mythology and multivalent archetype associated with this frequently misunderstood and oversimplified planet. We speak about desire, longing, and how love is consistently more complex than we give it credit for. We touch on projection, fantasy, what constitutes core, human needs, and make a case to de-pathologize pleasure. We also discuss our own Venus placements and the journey that all three of us have been on to understand ourselves through the lens of love and loss.

Tao, Chris and Anya have a three-way... conversation. Sitting in Tao's shipping container gallery in Yucca Valley, the three of us speak about the interwoven relationship between life, death, sex, pleasure, pain and creativity, and how the absence of death can directly correlate to an absence of eroticism. We question the hypocrisies of mainstream environmentalism, and whether individual action can influence collective change. We also speak about disagreement, the purpose of podcasts, and the art of conversation.

In this episode, I talk about how I've been feeling and what I've been thinking about over this past summer. Namely, about the intersection of beauty and death. I speak about how as I get older, a lot of my optimism and my desire to find "purpose" and "meaning" has become supplanted with unavoidable grief, death and sorrow. I question whether believing that everything happens for a reason is really just a manic and delusional avoidance of truth, honesty and sadness. I explore whether pessimism equals complacency, and if we're kidding ourselves by thinking any one of us can make a palpable difference in the way we, as a species, operate in the world.
