Earlier this year, Pres. Trump refused to commit to a peaceful transfer of power. With the election coming up next week, Americans are bracing themselves to see if Trump will contest the results.

No matter what happens, November 4th will usher in a new era.

For today’s show, we’re joined by a variety of writers and activists who have been working to protect our democracy by getting out the vote, promoting confidence in the voting process, and participating in mass, sustained action.

First, we hear from Sasha Abramsky, who recently wrote “Trump Attempts One More Preelection Power Grab” and “How to Rebut Trump’s Tsunami of Lies” for The Nation.

Next, George Lakey offers insight from his lifetime of activism and his latest book, How We Win: A Guide to Nonviolent Direct Action Campaigning.

And in the final segment, M. Adams, co-executive director of Freedom, Inc., and Ankur Asthana, co-author of Hold the Line: A Guide to Defending Democracy, give perspectives from their work on the ground about joy at the polls, claiming victory, world-building, and creating a more just future.
