Bought this for my 4 year old nephew in time for Passover and he loved it.
Where is Elijahu HaNavi?
During a power cut occuring during the first night of Pesach, the neighbours are pouring one by one through the door left ajar on purpose to welcome the propher Elijahu. Not all of them are Jewish but they are well welcomed around the table. They are more and more of them coming, and even the chair left free for the prophet is taken. But this is all for good and surprisingly, it seems that Elijah is around...
It is a book teaching small children about welcoming strangers and being always open to help those in need. I wasn't very impressed by the illustrations but it doesn't make the book less interesting.

This is a charming tale of the Passover seder that young children would love ...
Passover had begun and everyone had gathered âround to set the table. âWe mustnât forget to make a place for Elijah,â Sarah said to her Mama. She was going to leave the door ajar so the Elijah the Prophet could sneak in and take his place, but it was cold and rainy outside. Little Jacob stood next to the table getting ready to put the matzah in the matzah tray while Papa stood behind him with âthe colorful Passover plate.â Preparations had begun for that special night, but Sarah was certain that Elijah would take his place at the table next to her.
The family peered out at the darkening sky, across the street at the neighborhood âshops with apartments above.â The rain was coming down in sheets and soon the power quieted the lights in their neighbors buildings. Sarah was worried about their neighbors, but thoughts of them had to be set aside because their Passover seder had begun. Papa had already hidden the afikomen and the began to âtell stories about Moses and the Jewish people escaping from slavery into the promised land.â There was a knock at the door. Was it Elijah?
No, it was Mrs. Faaiz, who was certainly welcome at the table. Elijahâs place had been taken so Sarah set yet another one. Pull up that chair for Elijah could arrive soon! The seder continued with yet more stories and an explanation of the seder plate for Mrs. Faaiz. There was soon another knock on the door. Was it Elijah? No, it was Bagel Ben. Elijahâs place had been taken so Sarah set another one. There were soon more knocks at the door and in came more neighbors. Before long there were âeight people and nine seats squashed in.â Sarah opened the door, but would there be any place for Elijah if more people arrived?
This is a charming tale of the Passover seder that young children would love.
