Matthew 9:35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
Jesus was a “people person”. He came and ministered to people, gave His life for people, and rose that people might have a new life in Christ. He also determined to use people to reach people. He would send His Holy Spirit to empower them with wisdom and gifts to be able to bring others into the Kingdom of God. Jesus also noted in verse 37 that there were not enough volunteers to do this ministry. His solution was not to guilt people or bribe people to serve. His solution was that we pray for God to send them. His Holy Spirit can inspire people to desire to serve Him, to serve people, and bring them to Christ. This message will focus upon that ideas and the realization that God sends the people needed to do what He needs done and that we are the ones He wants to equip and send.
