Hebrews 13:17 Have confidence in your
leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over
you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be
a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.
18 Pray for us. We are sure that we have a clear
conscience and desire to live honorably in every way.
A
relationship takes the fulfillment of both persons doing their part. In the
case of a marriage, the bible says the woman submits herself to her husband and
that the husband loves and sacrifices himself for the wife as Christ did for
the Church. Relationships should be based on Godly goals that we want to
accomplish together as a team and each of us doing our part.
The bible
gives roles to both the shepherd and the flock, the pastor and the
congregation, on the ways that we blend our efforts to fulfill His ministry. We
are one team, but He gives both authority and responsibility to the pastor and
the challenge to the laity to pray for and work with the leader He sends.
This
message will be Pastor Rick’s last message to us as our pastor. He will retire and Pastor Brian Harrell will assume the pastoral
leadership of Riverside First Church of God. Don’t miss this special service as
PR challenges both our new pastor and the flock to continue and fulfill our
ministry and God’s assigned roles for each of us. Our ministry is forward and
into the future. You are a part of that ministry.
