Host C.J. Opperthauser is joined by Symposium Books Owners Scott McCullough and Anne Marie Keohane. They moved to Providence from New York City in 2003. Scott is a native New Yorker and Anne Marie is from Co. Cork Ireland.
They started symposiumbooks.com and Symposium Books Wholesale 2003 at a warehouse in Providence and opened the store in 2004. In 2014, they added Vinyl Records to the store. In 2019, they added Symposium Gallery. This year, the store is celebrating its 15th year anniversary.
C.J., Scott, & Anne Marie get into a lively discussion about the ins and outs of running an independent bookstore in Providence and the challenges and opportunities they have faced.
