After the meeting with King Harald, the Raven clan returned to Fornburg to plan their next move. Sigurd announced a voyage to England to claim a new kingdom, and Eivor chose to leave the spoils of war behind to maintain peace.
The Raven clan returned to Fornburg after their royal meeting with King Harald, feeling the weight of the political shift. I had to look for Sigurd across the snowy paths of Fornburg to see how he intended to handle his father's submission.
After knocking on the heavy wooden door of the great hall, one of our kin from inside asked me to stay quiet. He wanted to ensure the Norse warriors outside wouldn't know about our secret gathering inside the hall.
After getting inside, I looked for Sigurd among the gathering. The man himself appeared to give a powerful speech to his people, where he wished to leave Fornburg behind and sail to England.
He planned to start their own kingdom, as he felt their king had betrayed them by kneeling before King Harald and surrendering their independence.
Dag said he had no desire to wear Harald's leash, so he liked this idea of seeking a new life across the sea. It looked like most of these people liked the idea as well.
As Sigurd was saying they would not take any supplies to avoid problems for their king, Eivor spoke up. He mentioned that Kjotve's resources would go some way toward easing their long passage.
Eivor argued that since he bested the man in combat, it was within his rights to claim the goods as his own spoils.
Sigurd mentioned that taking the wealth could make their king pay a heavy price for their defiance. I got this option to either take the resources or leave the resources for the settlement. I decided to leave them for the king.
Then Sigurd asked his people to get ready and pack anything they would need for the long journey. The meeting ended and the warriors went out of the great hall to begin the massive task of loading the longships.
There was Valka, who told Eivor a new path was revealed and his journey would be very challenging. She mentioned she would not be joining them yet because of her mother's cause.
It was the next morning when I had to meet Sigurd at the dock for the final departure. The sun was just beginning to rise over the mountains.
I tried this rope slide to get to the docks faster from the high cliffs. I noticed Eivor was using his axe to do the slide, which looked very cool.
I ran to the dock and found Sigurd standing among the large crowd. It looked like all of the people were packed up and ready to leave for England.
I went to talk to Sigurd when he said it was the perfect time to leave and asked me if I was ready. I had the choice to delay, but I was also ready to see what the new world had to offer. I approved the leave.
Eivor said he was ready and they should take to the water and leave unbothered while they still had the chance. But Randvi then said the chance had already passed as she saw a boat carrying King Harald's banner entering the harbor at Fornburg.
That's all for now.
