Hi all,
This is Sin and Jake. Sorry that we’ve been radio silent. Due to both the current national dialogue about anti-black police brutality as well as some personal strife, we decided to skip last week’s Chatting Tatum. We plan to return on our regularly scheduled release day, Wednesday July 17th.
We also want to use this platform to encourage you to get involved in the Black Lives Matter movement wherever you are. Here in Seattle, we specifically are asking folks to sign on to the petition by Covid-19 Mutual Aid Seattle, a network of organizations and individuals who came together in response to COVID-19 to demand an abolitionist, anti-racist public health response to the COVID-19 crisis. These demands of the petition are as follows
1)To defuned the Seattle Police Department by 50%
2)Use those funds to expand investments in making communities safe, prioritizing community-led health and safety strategies. Things such as full access to affordable housing, community-based anti-violence programs, trauma services and treatment, universal childcare, and free public transit for example.
3)To release and not prosecute all protestors arrested.
You can sign on to this petition at tinyurl.com/defundspd.
Also please follow Covid-19 Mutual Aid on Instagram at @covid19mutualaid, on Facebook at @covid19mutualaid, and on Twitter at @covid_mutualaid. If you are able to, you can also find access about several black led marches that you can join as well.
Thanks, and we’ll see you all soon.
