Tonight for the Virgo Blood Moon LUNAR eclipse we chatted with BODY astrologer Xochitl Nieves

Xochitl (so-chi) Nieves is a self-declared body astrologer, medical astrology student, and founder of Starwitch Haven.

With a B.A. in Sociology from San Francisco State University, she approaches astrology through the lens of social systems, human behavior, and embodied experience.

Originally self-taught, Xochitl immersed herself in astrology through 8 years of independent study — devouring books, lectures, and chart practice whenever & wherever she could.

She later refined her craft under Jason Fleming (@thesagittarianmind), deepening her technical foundation and philosophical approach to birth charts.

Her work evolved into a focused study of medical astrology, having completed a 2 year program at the Academy of Medical Astrology with Judith Hill and is certified in Levels 1, 2, and 3 of Kira Sutherland’s Astrology of Health, currently working on completing Levels 4 and 5.

She is also pursuing her Fundamentals Certificate through Kepler College, continuing to integrate traditional, modern, and medical frameworks into her practice.

With aspirations to study naturopathy, her long-term vision centers on holistic, ethical, and informed approaches to astrology and wellness.

Xochitl specializes in what she calls “body astrology” — exploring the connection between planetary placements, lifestyle practices, societal implications & the human body as a whole.

Her approach is rooted in practicality & empowerment, using astrology mindfully for awareness, not fear.

She is also deeply drawn to medical astrology, shaped by her decade-long journey of healing from chronic illness and by her studies in herbalism, mind-body therapies, and holistic health.

Outside of astrology, she lives in the mountains of Colorado with her husband and a lively (and adorable) crew of rescue animals—spending her days close to the land, the seasons, and the natural rhythms that astrology has always been rooted in.
