It only takes a quick google search to discover some pretty significant statistics related to uterine fibroids. Stats like….most women will develop them at some point in their lives; over 25 million if you’d like to hear a number…with about 15 million of those whose everyday lives are impacted with severe symptoms. About. 15 million maybe more because, let’s face it, for some women, there may not even be a diagnosis yet. Stats like Black women develop fibroids at higher rates. 

We’ve dedicated this entire month of July, which is Fibroid Awareness Month, to exploring and amplifying stories of women whose lived experiences with fibroids are sure to educate and inspire. I am one of those women. I’m so looking forward to sharing this space with a few special sisters in order to provide even more visibility to a women’s health topic that absolutely requires more attention, research, and education.
