Welcome to A Sunday Kind of Blog!

Friends, after much deliberation, I decided to keep the name of this newsletter to what it has been: A Sunday Kind of Blog.
I want to send you so much gratitude for journeying with me so far. Your email inbox is, in a lot of ways, an extension of you opening up your mind and heart to me. I am grateful, I am honored, thank you.
In my missives from the past two weeks, I've alluded to refashioning this blog. The first part is done. We're sticking with the same name. I've decided to keep the name because why fix something if it's not broken? In the next few weeks, you can expect to see slight cosmetic changes, new email headers and lastly, the introduction of Volume 1.
I can't wait to show you!
With that said, I want to spend today's newsletter giving you the story behind the name: A Sunday Kind of Blog.
Some of you may have guessed already, but the title of the blog is inspired by the Etta James song: A Sunday Kind of Love.
When I was in my 20s, I used to listen to this song on repeat. I’d listen to it on my evening commute home, definitely on Sundays and whenever I wanted to just slow down and reflect; even get into my feelings. I am an extravert. I love to be around people, laugh and enjoy life. But when I turned on this song, it was my time to go inward.
It was the soundtrack to my longing. It was the soundtrack to my yearning.
Remember, I was in my 20s so part of the vibe was me dreaming about my future life partner. Yet, as I look back, I realize the song also gave me access to a deeper part of myself. It gave voice to the part of me that longed to be seen, known and loved. It gave voice to my soul.
This newsletter then, is an extension of that ongoing lifelong journey. More than a decade later, that voice has grown within me and it needed another expression so this newsletter was born. It is a journey of listening to the soul. Listening to stillness. The journey of coming home. The journey towards wholeness.
We also search for this wholeness everywhere; at work, at home, and in our relationships. This newsletter aims to document this wholeness search journey in all the arenas of my life; primarily with my most important roles as husband, father, and entrepreneur. By reading and/or listening, you’ve accepted the invitation to join me on this search. Hopefully, it's been an invitation for you to go on your own search too.
Ram Dass, a spiritual teacher, is most often quoted with saying, “We’re all just walking each other home.” That’s my intention with this newsletter. That when you read them on Sundays, whatever it might be about, whether it’s an entrepreneurial challenge, a coaching conversation, or me being vulnerable about parenthood or marriage; you can feel me walking with you through my struggles, my challenges and celebrations. You can feel us walking home together.
So that's it. That's the story behind this newsletter.
Now, I can't wait for you to experience the next evolution. While I've got big visions for this blog to attract more readers (I'm at 200+, next stop is 1,000!), you can expect the same Sunday drops for the next little while. You can expect for me to keep telling you about my work as a coach in case some of you want to go deeper on your journey with me. You can also expect a volume series that ties together the themes I'm exploring in my life.
For now, I’ve got one request. Please share with your friends and family, if this is something you think they would like.
And I want to say thank you again. Next time you read this, it'll be the first newsletter of Volume 1.
Enjoy your week!
Love.
Jomar
By You set the goals. You put in the work. You crossed the finish line. But what happens after success? Does it feel the way you thought it would? Does it change you? Or does it just leave you looking for the next thing?Welcome to A Sunday Kind of Blog!
