There have probably been many times in your life when you’ve attempted to make your own plans, only to discover that God had different ones. God’s not interested in how you look or how smart you are. What God looks at is your heart. If His will stretches outside of those bounds, our first reaction is to question its validity. God’s will can never be taken into your own hands. You have to humble yourself and submit to His power and guidance if you want to be successful in living out His mission for you. Sometimes when God calls us to act, it can feel crazy. In fact, most of the time, it feels crazy. The world around you will confirm that. They’ll laugh at you. They might do worse. Truth isn’t flexible or subjective. The ultimate truth we cling to is that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and He died and rose again to secure our redemption. He is Truth. As Pastor Dave will warn in today’s message, that message will earn you ridicule and rejection at the hands of men, but it bears great eternal rewards.

If you picture a shadow, it has two distinct regions – the darkness and the light. That offers a fitting metaphor for what Jesus did. The cross represented our sin, which casts our souls in darkness. But, as we’ll be reminded by Pastor Dave’s today, Christ brings light to darkness and offers righteousness to those who trust in Him.
