A Sure Hope

Are there parts of your city that you won’t go to? Maybe those areas don’t feel safe, or, if you’re honest, you feel too good to go to those areas. Today, Pastor Dave reminds you that there is nowhere Jesus won’t go and sometimes He wants to use you to reach those areas in your life that you don’t want to go into.

What a counter-intuitive idea…to be less, so Jesus can be more. It truly brings home the point that “less is more.” It teaches us humility, just as Jesus was humble. It teaches self-sacrifice, as Jesus was Himself a sacrifice. Pastor Dave wants you to know today that by giving your life to Jesus, there’s nothing greater, than being lesser.

Today, Pastor Dave talks about the man who paved the way, before Jesus’ ministry began. John the Baptist was kind of an odd person, but he was God’s chosen spokesman, to prepare people to learn and hear about Jesus, the Savior of the world. Now think about your role, in preparing the way for others to know God!

Oh, the things that are hard-wired into us, right? We tend to be quite selfish, in almost every way. In most cases, we’re looking for how a situation will benefit us. But in today’s passage, Pastor Dave covers the concept of putting yourself last and allowing yourself to be humble, which ultimately honors God.

Weddings are a beautiful thing. All the details, and the people standing up, representing the bride and the groom. Today, Pastor Dave talks about how John the Baptist was the one who was standing up for and representing the groom. He was preparing the way for Jesus to be the groom for His bride, the Church!

The world likes to take the cross and use it as some adornment. It attributes the cross to philanthropy, or a mean, close-minded people. Today, Pastor Dave teaches that the world tries to twist the cross’s meaning, but reveals its true meaning… that it’s the place that Jesus chose to die for your sins and set you free.

Have you seen those land bridges that only appear once a day when the tide is low enough to reveal them? Today, Pastor Dave teaches that many people are living on the sin-filled island, refusing to cross the bridge to heaven while it’s visible. Are you too comfortable in your sin to cross the bridge while there’s time?

Do you take responsibility for your actions? Or do you try to sweep them under the rug until they are brought to light? Today, Pastor Dave teaches that one day, you’ll have to own up to all of your actions. But, if you put your faith in Jesus, the resulting consequences of your actions will have been paid on the cross.

What am I supposed to do with my life? Billions of people around the world wonder the same thing every day. They try to answer that question with work, philanthropy, pleasure, and much more. However, Pastor Dave will teach you the answer in today’s message. Stick around to find out what God has in store for you.

The issue that many of the Pharisees had with Jesus is that they viewed their religion as one of works. They had to follow the Mosaic Law down to the dot. Today, Pastor Dave teaches that the kind of salvation Christ brings can’t be earned. You can’t “serve” your way into heaven. You have to be born again.
