A Sure Hope

It’s great to know that the Bible is the most thoroughly attested document in all of ancient literature. But as Pastor Dave shares today, it’s not enough just to know that you have an accurate document. It’s more important for you to trust that this document is the very Word of God. And to read it. And to understand it!

When times get tough, where do people turn? Many decide, that when all else fails, it’s time to pray. But as Pastor Dave shares today, the most important reason to pray is not for physical needs. God wants to bless you when you pray. So be sure you’re praying for the blessings which are the most important – those that are spiritual.

Living in America, we can easily take the Bible for granted. It’s easily accessible online, in a bookstore, or on our phones, so it’s not seen as anything special. But in today’s message, Pastor Dave teaches you the importance of revering and respecting the Bible because it’s the very word of God! No other book can claim that.

Nobody’s a bystander in God’s kingdom. Today, Pastor Dave teaches that God gifted you with unique talents, skills, passions, and experiences so that you can serve your local church body in a way that no one else can. What are the gifts that you’ve been blessed with? How are you using them to serve God and benefit others?

Whether it’s a pastor, a Sunday school teacher, or a seminary professor, you need to test what they’re saying with the truth of God’s word. Pastor Dave reminds you that you can’t take anything at face value, no matter who’s speaking. The only absolute authority in all matters of your life is the Bible.

To defend yourself against the devil, you need to know his tactics. In today’s message, Pastor Dave teaches you that Satan always mixes in just enough truth in his lies to get you to believe them. He loves to distort God’s truths. You need to study and know God’s word so that you can fend off Satan’s lies with the truth.

We’ve really lost what it means to fear the Lord. We’re always looking for affirmation from people - so much that we’ve forgotten that God’s the one who really matters. In today’s message, Pastor Dave reminds you that when you fear God, it means you do what’s right in His eyes, no matter who else sees.

Wouldn’t life be so much better if people practiced what they preached? There are too many religious folks, businessmen, and politicians who are all about “Rules for thee but not for me.” In today’s message, Pastor Dave teaches you to follow the example of Nehemiah – YOU follow God – and then help others do the same.

What an encouragement. I don’t know if you ever thought about things that way, but that sure does put things into perspective for you. In today’s message, Pastor Dave tells you about the discouragement that Nehemiah faced and how God helped Him through it. If you’re facing discouragement, remember – God can help you too.

I know what it’s like to get distracted. Life these days is full of things that divide our attention. As soon as you start to do anything – there it goes - BUZZ - DING - WHISTLE. Distractions everywhere. Today, Pastor Dave teaches you that the devil wants to distract you from God’s plan for your life, but you don’t have to let him.
