A Sure Hope

Is your faith journey feeling like a roller coaster? One day you feel like you are at the top of the ride and enjoying everything God has to offer and the next day you feel like you’ve dropped to the bottom. Today, Pastor Dave will encourage you to stay steadfast in your faith in God even when life gets scary.

All things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose. Do you believe that? It’s a verse we love to quote and frame and put on the wall but living it out is hard. Today, Pastor Dave will encourage you to wait patiently and trust fully that God will bring about His perfect will in your life.

We tend to underestimate the scale of God’s love and grace and overestimate the power of sin. Yes, we should flee from sin – it only brings destruction – but as Pastor Dave will remind us in today’s message, we should never fall for the lie that our sin has taken us beyond the reach of God’s love.

Are you preoccupied with the things of this world? Family, career, finances, hobbies, and all sorts of things can easily claim the spotlight in our lives. As Pastor Dave will challenge us today, we need to invest our time, energy, and resources first and foremost in Jesus and eternal, spiritual things.

This is a hard one for us in our culture. There’s always something to be done and many of us feel guilty for just sitting still. As Pastor Dave will challenge us in today’s message, we can learn from the example of Mary. There are times for work, but our first priority should always be to dwell in the presence of God.

Apologetics relies on human logic to try to prove the truth of Scripture. It’s a useful tool, but it falls short in a critical way. As Pastor Dave points out in today’s message, the message contained in this divinely inspired book requires faith on a heart level, and that can’t be scientifically tested or proven.

This is crucial to our faith. It’s been declared in creeds and is at the heart of what Scripture reveals: Jesus was and is the Son of God. He wasn’t just a wise teacher or even a miracle worker. He was fully divine and as Pastor Dave will remind us today, He took on human flesh to bear our sin and free us from its oppression.

When we stumble into sin, Satan immediately begins an onslaught of shame. He convinces us that there’s no hope and God could never love us. As Pastor Dave will remind us in today’s message, God loved us and sent Jesus while we were still in sin, and He anxiously waits for us to come running back to Him.

God doesn’t care about your religion or your religious practices – He cares about you and the state of your heart. He doesn’t expect perfection, because He knows exactly what sin’s done to you. As Pastor Dave will explain in today’s message, only God can restore your heart and make it new through Jesus’ sacrifice.

Religion is focused on what you can do to earn God’s favor. This can easily be manipulated by religious leaders for self-serving purposes. As Pastor Dave will explain in today’s message, when you enter into relationship with God through Jesus, the focus isn’t on what you do, but on what He’s already done.
