They became vegan in 2000, as they became aware that animals still died for a vegetarian diet. They found immediate health benefits and have never looked back! Claire started writing articles for the Vegan Society magazine in 2011 and became a board member in 2015. Since then, they have taken on various roles as required, but words and communication have always been their strong point. They became the media spokesperson in 2016 and have ensured that veganism is seen as a positive influence in NZ society since then. Claire also writes for the Society and remains a presence in the magazine.Claire lives in the remote location of Karamea, at the top of the South Island, on the West Coast, in a yurt, off-grid, living a low-carbon lifestyle. They run West Coast Reiki and Massage and teach Reiki up and down the West Coast. They have authored a book “The Way of the Rainbow Warrior”, published in 2020, and are in the process of a second, “You Are Earth Energy”. Claire is also a Qi Gong Master and teaches classes regularly in Karamea. During the village “Winter School” they teach many different workshops on expanding consciousness, improving health, plant-based cooking, etc. Ever curious, Claire is a lifelong learner and is always studying something.
