Jacquelyn Mitchard's first novel, The Deep End of the Ocean, launched Oprah's Book Club and riveted millions of readers across the country. Now comes A Theory of Relativity, Mitchard's most compelling and beautifully written novel yet.
At 24, Gordon McKenna thinks he's already heard the worst news of his life when he learns that his sister, Georgia, is fatally ill. Then Georgia and her husband die in a car accident, leaving behind their baby daughter, Keefer. Gordon and his parents are able to survive their sorrow only by devoting themselves to the care of the beloved one-year-old.
But the decision of who will raise Keefer is far from over, and soon Gordon's most basic assumptions about his family will be challenged in ways so provocative that he will be driven to disbelief and then to outrage. The ordeal will test the bonds of this closely knit family, challenging even love's ultimate capacity to heal.
Performed by Juliette Parker.

Who Loves Me Best?
Interesting conflict about who can lovingly raise an oprphaned baby, her dead mother's much loved adopted brother or a cousin who is a stranger, but is a blood relative. A new law on adoption even has to be considered.
Five Stars
very unique "take" on this situation
Not well written
I found the writing style quiet boring and struggled to get my head around the characters. Idid mot finish the book.

Interesting subject. Interesting ending. Some characters are spot on but others aren't as well developed. Gordon was not believable as a character to me so it was difficult to read the story at times. While the author can spot on nail writing from a woman's point of view, she lacks writing talent from the male point of view.
Great Read
I purchased this book because I was surprised to have missed something written by Mitchard. I gave it four (instead of five) starts because I don't think it's her best work. However, I always enjoy reading her stories about family dynamics in stressful situations. Mitchard at her next to best is better than most other authors at their very best.
