Imagine playing basketball with your friends, and LeBron James shows up and joins your team. How much confidence would you have? I mean, there’s no way you could lose! You would just need to pass him the ball and let him score. In today’s message, Pastor Bill teaches you that you can have the utmost confidence in God. Because if God is for you, then no one can be against you! You have an all-knowing, all-powerful, and all-loving God who is working for you! Let that confidence drive your life.

Have you ever spent so much time and effort on something that just wasn’t working? Maybe you were starting a business, or pursuing a relationship. No matter what you did, it just didn’t work. In today’s message, Pastor Bill teaches that this was true of Saul. No matter how much he pursued David, he could never capture and kill him. This was because he was fighting against God. Saul knew that God was going to make David the next king, but Saul kept fighting it and eventually lost. Are you aligned with God’s plans?

How much of our prayers are just us making requests to God? We just walk up to God’s throne and give Him our wishlist. Of course, God wants us to ask for things and to cast our concerns to Him. But do we want God to do our will, or do we want to do His will? In today’s message, Pastor Bill examines David’s prayer life and shows us that David wanted to do what God wanted him to do. Have you ever worked for a boss that sounded like King Saul? Did they manipulate people, bribe them with raises and promotions, and create a fearful work culture? While this type of leadership is common and sometimes even encouraged by the world, today, Pastor Bill teaches that this can’t be how God’s leaders act. Christian leaders need to be like David and show compassion and humility in serving the people they are called to lead. If you’re in a leadership position, pray for that kind of heart.

If you were to start a team to make a big impact for God, you’d probably want to recruit the smartest and most talented people. In today’s teaching, Pastor Bill shows that the people who came to David were the debtors, the distressed, and the dissatisfied. Not exactly the people you’d want to start a team with. But God often uses the weakest and most despised things of the world to do His will. If you feel like you’re unqualified to serve God, be encouraged to know that God uses those who are humble and obedient.

Have you ever gotten away with a lie? Maybe it was in a job interview, or on your taxes. You may have gotten that job, or a bigger tax refund. Soon, you become a habitual liar to get what you want and to get out of what you don’t want. If there are any deceitful habits or patterns in your life, confess them to God and commit yourself to living in truth.

Think back to a time when God granted you a great victory over a challenging situation. Maybe it was regarding a difficult relationship or a financial struggle. When God successfully brought you through it, you probably had a strong, renewed faith in God. Is your faith still strong in your present situation? Today, Pastor Bill teaches that when David was running away from Saul, he was driven by fear rather than faith. Remind yourself of God’s grace and goodness in your life, and know that He’ll continue to be faithful.

Have you ever been in a situation that you felt you could only get out of by sinning? Like David, maybe you felt that lying was your best option. In today’s message, Pastor Bill teaches that in any situation, your best option is always to tell the truth and leave the outcome in God’s hands. When you sin to get out of a situation, you are trusting in yourself rather than in God. You may never be in a life-or-death scenario like David, but in any situation, tell the truth, and allow God to handle the consequences.

As Christians, this is the mindset we need to have while living on earth. We’re just pilgrims passing through, and nothing belongs to us. Everything belongs to God. Today, Pastor Bill teaches you that when you try to hold on to your own kingdom, you open up yourself to greed, jealousy, and entitlement. King Saul thought that the kingdom was his, even though he knew that God had chosen David to be the next king. Saul wasted years of his life trying to kill David and fight against God’s plans.
