The Fifth Commandment says to "honor thy father and mother."  Nowhere does it say to do this once a year, on Fathers's Day, and once a year on Mothers' Day.    It really should be everyday that we honor and show our love and respect for our fathers and mothers. Today, we will honor fathers.  Let  us not fail to honor the fathers who have passed as well.  They are gone, but surely, not forgotten.  They are always with us.  They are always in our hearts.  Additionally, let us also acknowledge and honor all men who have acted as a father figure in our lives, whether as stepfathers, uncles, grandfathers, or "big brothers."
