Our exit today has us realizing we should have bought a squirrel. This week, we are talking about Rat Race, written by Andy Breckman and directed by Jerry Zucker. And at the airport, we picked up our very calm friend, Quizmaster Thomas Todd.
Along the way, we all discuss the various influences on this film, favorite performances, Ross' crush on Amy Smart, how similar Tripp is to the family in this film, inflation, gambling, Robert Benigni, Jeopardy!, weird indies, movies for the whole family, great hot air balloon films, and Tripp says something nice about an Adam Sandler film.

Our exit today has us throwing a big end of summer bash at our lake house. This week, we are talking about American Pie 2, written by Adam Herz with a story by Adam Herz and David H. Steinberg and directed by J.B. Rogers.
In addition to many comparisons to the original film (also covered on this podcast!), there is talk of How I Met Your Mother, Porky's, Michigan geography, Connecticut movies, Say It Isn't So, unrated DVDs, and Julia Roberts. Plus, Ross misses one of the plot points of the movie and then we spend way too long unpacking the history of the MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss (justice for Cameron Diaz).

Our exit today has us discovering our royal roots. This week, we are talking about The Princess Diaries, written by Gina Wendkos and directed by Garry Marshall.

But we also discuss Andrews' contemporaries Angela Lansbury and Audrey Hepburn, animated films turned stage musicals, Mandy Moore, the teen stars of this time period, San Francisco movies, trolley cars, and debate how good a friend Lily actually is!
Plus, Tripp still can't let go of Hector Elizondo's product placement in Runaway Bride!

As hinted at on last week's WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER episode, Tripp decided to torture poor Ross and Jim with a musical rendition of Roger Ebert's One-Star review of the film.
The views and opinions expressed in this song are those of the late great Roger Ebert and do not necessarily reflect the views or positions of the podcast or its hosts.
Our exit today has us having nothing to fear because it’s only desire taking us higher and higher. This week, we are talking about Wet Hot American Summer, written by Michael Showalter and David Wain and directed by David Wain. And our conversation includes one of the film's biggest fans, The Director's Club host Jim Laczkowski!
Along the way, we discuss this amazing cast, including Paul Rudd, Janeane Garofalo, Bradley Cooper, and David Hyde Pierce, along with our own summer camp experiences. Plus, Planet of the Apes, sketch comedy, Frasier, The State, movie trivia, Skylab, The Eyes of Tammy Faye, Alan Arkin, Roger Ebert's memorable pan of the film, and Ross' shortest plot summary of all time. And Tripp talks about maybe his best and worst moviegoing experiences in the same episode!

Our exit today has us stopping an international counterfeit money scheme. This week, we are talking about Rush Hour 2, written by Ross LaManna and Jeff Nathanson and directed by Brett Ratner.
In preparation, Tripp watched Rush Hour, so there is a lot of comparing between the two movies. There is also discussion about bloopers (of course), Jackie Chan, Chris Tucker, Zhang Ziyi, Ocean's Eleven, some cultural insensitivity, 90s action films, Quebecois cinema, Hong Kong, Jeremy Piven, Billy Crystal, erotic Antonio Banderas films, and a surprisingly long conversation comparing the different cuts of Apocalypse Now!

Our exit today has us fighting ghosts and trying to get a date to another prom. This week, we are looking at two spoofs that attempt to satirize two genres that were very big at the time. First, we are going to talk about Scary Movie 2, written by Shawn Wayans, Marlon Wayans, Alyson Fouse, Greg Grabianski, Dave Polsky, Michael Anthony Snowden, and Craig Wayans and directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans. Next, we are going to talk about Not Another Teen Movie, written by Mike Bender, Adam Jay Epstein, Andrew Jacobson, Phil Beauman and Buddy Johnson and directed by Joel Gallen. Both films employ a plethora of writers to try and craft sharp parodies or spoofs. But do more writers mean more laughs?
Along the way, we discuss Tim Burton, She's All That, David Letterman, Tim Curry, Vanilla Sky, many teen actors, the emergence of Chris Evans, Natasha Lyonne, Marlon Brando, and why one of these movies works so much better than the other!

Our exit today has us talking about the longest promotional film clip ever made. This week, we are talking about Pootie Tang, written and directed by Louis C.K.
Along with discussing sketches turned movies, we touch on the touchy subjects of the cancelling of Louis C.K. and blackface. Plus, Blaxploitation movies, Peter Sellers, Chris Rock, bloopers, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Spielberg's A.I., movies taken away from their filmmakers, and whether this should even count as a movie.
