Then we examine Season 2 and its relation to Season 1 as well as how it fits into the Find the Faith project as a whole. We talk about why it is so important for the modern-day disciple, and then I offer some tips about how to engage in spiritual reading.

At every Sunday Mass, when we pray the Nicene Creed, we are supposed to bow during the phrase, "by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man." But why? In this mini-catechetical episode, we explore the theological reason for bowing in general and at this moment in particular.

In this last episode of Season 1, we revisit our overarching goal—to build solid foundations for our faith in God, in Christ, and in the Church. To do this, we review all of the topics covered in the previous twenty episodes: faith and reason, our natural knowledge of God through creation, the reliability of the New Testament, the resurrection of Christ, the primacy of Peter, and apostolic succession.

Drawing from the wisdom of Blessed John Henry Newman, we examine why it is logical to believe that God would have given us an authority who has the grace to teach the gospel of Christ and interpret God’s revelation without error.

Did the apostles have successors? Was the authority Christ gave to the apostles handed down to their successors? Was Peter’s authority? This week, we answer these questions by looking at four early Christian writers: Saints Luke, Clement of Rome, Irenaeus of Lyons, and Cyprian of Carthage. We see that the apostles did have successors and that the most important of all successors was the successor of Saint Peter.

In today’s episode, we study the third Gospel passage in which Jesus gives Peter a singular mission, and we see, once again, how the Lord made Peter his vicar (representative) here on earth.

Today, we see Jesus changing Simon’s name to Peter, giving him the “keys of the kingdom,” and giving him the authority to “bind and loose.” What does it mean to Simon that his name is changed? What are the keys of the kingdom? And what does it mean to bind and loose? These are some of the topics we’ll consider in this episode.

In this week’s episode, we look at the famous episode when three times Jesus asks Peter if he loves him. We will see that after each of Peter’s response, Jesus gives Peter a mission—to feed his sheep. We’ll see that this mission means that Peter is to continue Christ’s mission of being the good shepherd who lays down his life for his sheep. In this way, Peter is to be Christ’s vicar—his representative here on earth.
