A wee Moan Podcast

In this episode, we delve into the world of Jane Austen—her novels, their adaptations, and her lasting impact on pop culture. We discuss the BBC's iconic 1995 Pride and Prejudice series with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle, Gwyneth Paltrow's 1996 Emma, the 1995 Sense and Sensibility featuring Kate Winslet and Emma Thompson, and the 2020 Emma starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Johnny Flynn . We also explore how Austen's influence extends to modern films like Clueless and Bridget Jones's Diary. Plus, we reflect on the ABC documentary Jane Austen: Rise of a Genius, which chronicles Austen's journey from a self-taught writer in a small English village to one of the greatest novelists of all time . Join us as we go back in time and imagine what life was like for women in the 1800s—no rights, no toilets, but plenty of witty dialogue.
