Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has pledged to enforce a new taskforce to toughen laws on supermarkets engaging in price gouging. 

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has labelled the promise as “weak” and claimed it is destined for failure, advocating instead for the government to have divestiture powers.
