Vāsanta-rāsa is not in the Bhāgavatam, Jayadeva Gosvāmī writes about it
In Vāsanta-rāsa Rādhārāṇī disappears, not Kṛṣṇa
Ācāryas often quote Hari-vaṁśa, which fill gaps in the Bhāgavatam
Kṛṣṇa knew that if He goes to Vṛndāvana the demons will also go
Residents of Vṛndāvana would suffer from Kṛṣṇa leaving again more than from His absence
The feeling of separation of the vrajavāsīs is extremely deep
Prabhupāda says unlimited times that devotees should render service and chant Hare Kṛṣṇa in the mood of separation
Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura says, ‟It is essential for the sādhaka jīvas to cultivate only the mood of vipralambha, and because they have never experienced meeting with Kṛṣṇa, their vipralambha will come only in the category of pūrva-rāga.”
Pūrva-rāga is one of the symptoms of prema so sādhakas cannot experience pūrva-rāga, which means attachment before meeting
For prema you have to have your spiritual body, your svarūpa
When meeting with Kṛṣṇa’s associates one can develop prema and pūrva-rāga
Gopīs who could not go out to meet Kṛṣṇa for the rāsa-dance attained pūrva-rāga
Bhāva has stages of kaniṣṭha, madhyama and uttama
We are to cultivate a longing for Kṛṣṇa
Bhaktivinoda continued: ‟But without having ever met with Kṛṣṇa, how can they experience separation in pūrva-rāga from Him? By hearing the līlā-kathā of Śrī Kṛṣṇa from others, pūrva-rāga is awakened. This was the case with the dvija-patnīs as well as the ladies of Mathurā previous to Kṛṣṇa's arrival there.”
Mathurā-vāsīs heard about Kṛṣṇa before meeting Him through messengers
Bhaktivinoda continued: ‟Rukminī also had never seen Kṛṣṇa, but by hearing about Him from Śrī Nārada, pūrva-rāga arose within her heart. Thus she became exceedingly anxious to meet with Kṛṣṇa. Similarly, by hearing from the guru and Vaiṣṇavas or by reading the śāstras, the jīvas may have pūrva-rāga-vipralambha awakened within their hearts.”
We need to cultivate vipralambha but the vrajavāsīs experience a different type of vipralamba
When the only child dies in a family the parents would rather die than live – the vrajavāsīs also would rather die than live without Kṛṣṇa
The absorption of thoughts of Kṛṣṇa is much more intense in separation than in meeting and leads to an extraordinary strong and relishable ecstasy so they prefer it to meeting
Kṛṣṇa is subordinate to the love of His devotees
