  • 1971 — Macbeth & The Devils: British Witchcraft (feat. Andrea Subissati)
    Something wicked this way comes as Alicia, Becky and special guest Andrea Subissati (Rue Morgue and The Faculty of Horror podcast) head to the U.K. to revisit two controversial films from 1971: Roman Polanski's Macbeth and Ken Russell's The Devils. In 2010, Andrea’s masters thesis on the social impact of zombie cinema was published under the title When There’s No More Room In Hell: The Sociology of the Living Dead. Since then, she has been published in The Undead and Theology (2012), The Canadian Horror Film: Terror of the Soul (2015) and Yuletide Terror: Christmas Horror on Film and Television (2017). She joined the staff of Rue Morgue magazine in 2014 and became Executive Editor in 2017. In addition to writing, Andrea has appeared on the TV horror documentary Why Horror? (2014) and is co-founder of the Toronto-based horror lecture series The Black Museum.     Kat Ellinger (Editor-in-Chief of Diabolique Magazine) joins Becky and Alicia to talk about two Carmilla adaptations from 1971: Daughters of Darkness and Let's Scare Jessica to Death. Kat Ellinger is the Editor-in-Chief at Diabolique Magazine, and the co-host of their Daughters of Darkness and Hell's Belles podcasts. She has also written for BFI, Senses of Cinema, Fangoria and Scream Magazine, and provided various home video supplements, commentary (including Blue Underground's 4K Ultra HD version of Daughters of Darkness and Imprint's Bluray of Let's Scare Jessica to Death), liner notes, on camera interviews and audio essays, for a number of companies including Arrow Films, Kino Lorber, Indicator, Second Run and Cult Films. Kat is the author of Daughters of Darkness (Devil's Advocates, Auteur), and All the Colours of Sergio Martino (Arrow Films).

He is also the culture editor for NOW Magazine, the pop culture columnist for CBC syndicated radio and has a Friday Flicks segment on CTV News Channel.     Important Cinema Club co-hosts Justin Decloux and Will Sloan team up with Becky to investigate two very different reworkings of the Classic Movie Monster: Godzilla 2000 and Dracula 2000. Justin Decloux is one of the hosts of the Important Cinema Club podcast, as well as a director, author, movie lover and Toronto cinema culture devotee. Justin's first feature film Teddy Bomb (2014) is currently available on Blu-Ray and digital streaming platforms. His second feature film Impossible Horror (2017) is available on Blu-Ray. He is author of Radioactive Dreams: The Cinema of Albert Pyun, and is co-author of The Important Cinema Club Journal No. 1 Will is a writer and reporter, working with York University, Ryerson University, and the Woolwich Observer. He also co-host the podcasts The Important Cinema Club, along with Justin Decloux, as well as Michael and Us. As a freelance writer and journalist, he has written for NPR, Harper's, Toronto Life, Current Affairs, The Globe & Mail, The Believer, and many others.
