A2TP EP 104 - THE NFL NOT FOR LONG

Listen Later

The National Football League is a multi-billion dollar business. Not sure where it ranks amongst other billion dollars organizations, but pretty sure it’s up there. And taking into consideration other multi-billion dollar companies, it’s probably also fair to assume a career on the field with the National Football League is probably one if the most dangerous. But how many people complain when they’re salaries are more than life-savers, educators, and dragon slayers? Not many. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t a reason to.

Injuries in the NFL are common and an expected occurrence on the job. NFL veterans’ bodies can probably guide a road map throughout their careers aligned with the injuries endured. Some minor. Some major. Some life changing. How does a multi-billion dollar industry help? Or do they?

When Damar Hamlin was injured on the field, shockwaves went through the media in all forms. Even more so, the players, past and present. This was different. This wasn’t what anyone was used to or expected. This changed the game. But will it change the game?

Considering the popularity of American football, little leagues across the nation are filled with little hearts fluttering with touchdown dreams. Whether flag or tackle, the boys, and some girls, wanna hit the field. Considering the potential dangers of the mind and body, this gives parents a big decision to make. Do you allow your child to live out their dreams on the field, or do you shut them down and direct them in a different path?
