Time passes and that’s no surprise. The alternative is a funeral so I think we’d all prefer time to continue. But we know one day, time will cease for each of us. It may not be at the front of our minds and may not be at the back of our minds. But certainly somewhere in between, we know the truth. It’s actually one of the few things guaranteed. So what do we do about it?
If we give it enough thought, the answer is simple. Make the best of the time we have. There isn’t much we can do about how much time that actually is - or is it? Physically we may be able to intervene and extend the clock. If there’s any slight hope of the happening, who would not want to do so?
It’s not anything we want to walk around with at the forefront of our minds. But in many ways, thinking of the end is a great reminder we have something to live for. And in some cases, even more importantly, someone to live for. Whether it be your spouse, children, or other loved ones, leaving a lasting impression of who and how we’d like to be remembered should drive us to be better people while we are here.
No one wants to be morbid. We actually want to feel more alive each day. Doing those things we love with those we love can add to leaving the legacy we hope to accomplish. At least we think that’s what’s important. What day you?
