A2TP EP 117: SELECTIVE OUTRAGE

Listen Later

There was a new NCAA women’s basketball champion this year from the state of Louisiana. Making history, the Lady Tigers from Baton Rouge, LA won its first ever NCAA championship by defeating Iowa. Despite this monumental accomplishment, many may have been distracted by the senseless rhetoric from sore loser fans who chose to display their selective outrage over what real sportsman would consider a healthy dose of competitive spirit.

Angel Reese (LA) and Caitlin Clark (IA) have been competing against one another since John school games. Respectfully giving props to the other, these young collegiate athletes understand and respect the nature of the game. But what happens when fans don’t quite get it? Even more, what happens when those with a platform start to spew rhetoric that is vile & disrespectful? Who’s there to say when a sore loser has gone too far?
We can all speculate about right, wrong or indifference in any matter. But it’s only common sense to think that one person mimicking the actions of another CANT possibly be wrong if the person bring munched weren’t admonished for their actions. Make it make sense.
Despite the disrespect from Dave Portnoy of Barstool Sports or the incensing comments made by Keith Olbermann, the ladies in the place with style and grace will always shine bright. Kudos to Angel Reese and the LSU Lady Tigers led by the first coach to win championships at two different schools, Kim Mulkey.
Is this a case of failure to code-switch resulting in white fright? Is it that black women showing their assertiveness and pride us too heavy to handle for male white misogynists? Whatever the case, we got a thing or two to say.
