There’s a lot to be said about friends. Even songs made about them over the years. TLC’s “What about your friends?”. Even the icon Patti LaBelle’s “You Are My Friend “. And a legendary classic by Dionne Warwick and friends, “That’s What Friends Are For”. One of the most prolific sitcoms starring Jennifer Aniston is named as such. No matter how many pro-friend anthems, stories like that of Shanquella Robinson are awful reminders that things aren’t always what they appear to be.
Despite videos of a violent fight, speculation circulated around the cause of death of the beautiful Shanquella. Who would think a “Friends Trip” to Mexico whom result in murder charges? Well, maybe not. Recently it was announced that there would be no charges filed despite the fact this beautiful young lady was killed. There may be many opinions regarding this decision. But the most common opinion probably shared by all is to be careful of the title you bestow to others. Even your friends.
Speaking of titles, the religious figurehead, the Dalai Lama recently made headlines for behavior that can only be described as WTF?!? We’ve heard the horror stories of alter boys being about by the men of Archdiocese. Does this more private Tibetan group fall under the same umbrella?
It’s hard to believe the behavior displayed during the interaction with a young boy is an isolated incident. With all the backlash about phones being pulled out to record everything, is this a time where it served a benefit for the public? If these interactions are part of the culture we have little sight of, it’s time for cancel culture to be activated.
