ADRIAN — The Croswell Opera House begins their 2026 Broadway Season with the musical, “Jesus Christ Superstar.”

Thursday, May 14 at 7:30 p.m.
This rock opera, told entirely through song, has been a global phenomenon for 50 years. With music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice, the musical chronicles the last days of Jesus’ life through an iconic 1970s score. Focusing on the perspectives of Judas Iscariot and Mary Magdalene, “Jesus Christ Superstar” was originally a concept album that was released in 1970. The success of the album led to its Broadway debut in 1971 and it has been thrilling audiences ever since.
The director of “Jesus Christ Superstar” is Eric Parker with choreography by Dom Glover. The music director is Dave Rains and the vocal director is Mandy Kruse.
The role of Jesus is played by Nathan Goldsmith of Perrysburg, Ohio, while Judas is played by JeeMell Green of Southfield. The role of Mary Magdalene is played by Cassidy Giddens of Adrian. Bruce Hardcastle of Adrian plays the role of Caiaphas, Zach Husak of Ypsilanti plays the role of Annas, Joseph Ball of Perrysburg, Ohio plays the role of Herod and Maya Gangadharan plays the role of Pontius Pilate. The role of Peter is played by Maxwell Lam of Adrian and Simon Zealotes is played by Anthony Pierzynowski of Brighton.
The Apostles are played by Everett Hanley, Meg Lam, and Kylie McElrath of Adrian; Mitchell LaRoy of Blissfield; Em Rose Miller of Franklin; Connor Ganzel of Jackson; Julia Elsworth of Lambertville; Walter Book of Petersburg; Ekaterina Helpman of Bowling Green, Ohio; and Truth McCadney of Sylvania, Ohio.
Rounding out the cast are Nicci Brown, Betsy Lackey, Derrick McCullough, and Erica Murray all of Adrian; Nicole Harris and Renyuan Zhang of Ann Arbor; Bob Eccles of Carleton; Cleon Broussard, Meg McNamee, and Abby Reeder-Gilbey of Tecumseh; Eryn Gerweck of Temperance; LaMar Ashford and Miriam Roth of Ypsilanti; Yasmeen Perrin of Perrysburg, Ohio; and Dom Glover and Rick Schmitz of Toledo, Ohio.
“Jesus Christ Superstar” opens on May 8. The first weekend will have performances on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The second weekend will have performances on Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Tickets range from $26 to $46 for adults and $16 to $26 for students, and may be ordered online at croswell.org or by calling 517-264-7469.
